Jillibean Soup | Apple...

Oddly enough I heard on the radio today, that many children when asked the question: "What is an apple?" will reply with an answer that astounded me.

Now an apple is a fruit right?  Well according to a lot of school aged children, it is ...... a computer. Technically they are right I suppose.. Still, for me... an apple will be a fruit first and foremost!  LOL!!

Why am I sharing this information?  Because I have an appropriate layout to share today, created for Jillibean Soup.  *grin*

"An Apple a Day"

products used: cs - Kaisercraft; pp - Jillibean Soup; alphas - Jillibean Soup; other - Jillibean Soup pea pod parts & kraft tag; mist/paint; tools - Silhouette Portrait, black pen (sharpie).

My little munchkin loves his fruit.  He will have a bowl of it daily!  His current favourites are kiwi fruit and apples.  But he won't say no to strawberries, blueberries or rock melon!  In fact, name a fruit and he will eat it.  *this makes my heart happy*

I've tried to relay this message, of daily fruit consumption, by using the days of the week patterned paper.  It is section of the Bite Size Bits patterned paper and I have simply cut it down into strips so the whole piece (3in x 4in) can be seen.
Don't forget to visit the Jillibean blog to check out the work of the rest of the DT.  Thanks for visiting..x

The Scrapbook Store | Simple Stories #2...

Hello Everyone!  I just wanted to share another layout created from the Simple Stories - Urban Traveller collection, that came in my DT kit for The Scrapbook Store

 "Taylor Swift"

products used: pp - Simple Stories (Urban Traveller); alpha - Simple Stories (Urban Traveller); other - Simple Stories (Urban Traveller) decorative brads & stickers; Jenni Bowlin pennant flag sticker & yellow paint; ink; tools - The Crafter's Workshop template, textured paste, machine stitching, black pen (sharpie), Fancy That Dies - doily, Dear Lizzy date stamp.

This layout isn't really about travel but I love the colours in it so much that I thought I'd show you how versatile the papers and elements are...

The colours are bright and fun without being overwhelmingly so.  Perfect for a rock/pop concert themed layout! *grin* I still used the globe sticker and map patterned papers to remind me that this was a world tour concert.  Plus the t-shirt Tahlia is wearing, names all the cities on the tour.  Very International!  hee hee..

Don't forget to visit The Scrapbook Store if you would like to purchase this gorgeous collection.  Thanks so much for visiting..x

In this mini workshop, Amy will teach you how to keep your creativity fresh and exciting by mixing up your supplies, photos and projects. Create perfectly-embellished layouts you love when you use Amy’s tips for mixing up your supplies. Give your layouts an unexpected twist when you vary the sizes and edits of the photos you capture. The Scrapbook Store | Simple Stories ...

Hello Friends!! Sorry for my absence of late.  I have been spending time with my family over the Easter School holidays.  :)  Hopefully I will be back on track soon with my creativity!!  *grin*

Today however, I have a scrappy share for the The Scrapbook Store.  In this month's kit, I have the gorgeous Simple Stories - Urban Traveler collection to work with.

 "Canberra"

products used: pp - Simple Stories Urban Traveler; alpha - Simple Stories Urban Traveler; other - Simple Stories Urban Traveler sn@p pockets, decorative brads; October Afternoon sprinklers mist (twilight); tools - machine stitching, black pen (sharpie).

This photo is from our big camping trip holiday in 2011.  Liam had an amazing time in Canberra.  It was his favourite stop on our holiday.  Most probably because of the War Memorial.  He was really fascinated with the place.  I have used one of the Simple Stories Sn@p pockets to house a quote he gave me not long after we got home...  I simply created a tag from the ledger patterned paper to fit into the pocket and then typed his message directly onto the paper.

I also love the map patterned paper (orange stripes/map) from this collection and even though it is a map of Europe, I still like the message of traveling it relays.  The stickers on the alpha sheet (cardstock stickers - Expressions) are also a fun accessory to add interest to the page.

If you would like to get your hands on your own Simple Stories Urban Traveler collection, visit The Scrapbook Store to stock up.  :)  Thanks for visiting..x

Jillibean Soup | Lost...

Hello Friends!  I've been away on a little Western Queensland adventure with my family for the first part of the school holidays, meeting up with my mother in a little town called Miles.  The kids had a great time exploring, even after a five hour drive to get there... :)

But we didn't get "lost" out there.  What I want to share with you today is a layout featured on the Jillibean Soup blog.

"Lost"

products used: cs - Kaisercraft; pp - Jillibean Soup; alpha - Jillibean Soup; other - Jillibean Soup: stickers, wooden flags, twine, die cuts; October Afternoon sprinklers;  tools - machine stitching, typewriter.

Master Seven can become so engrossed in whatever game he is playing on his hand-me-down iPod, that he becomes lost to the world!  I love that he loves technology but there is only so much that I will let him become immersed in... And so his time spent on it is very much treasured!  LOL!

I also want to share this card created for Jillibean too...

products used: cs - kaisercraft; pp - Jillibean Soup; other - Jillibean Soup die cut, resin flower, ink; tools - Fancy That Dies die (bow).

Can you tell I love this collection of blues, yellows and greens!  sigh.... :)

Please don't forget to check out the amazing DT over at Jillibean Soup today.  There are some fun projects being posted!!  Thanks so much for visiting..x

The Scrapbook Store | April Sketch...

Hello!  Are you excited to be stepping into a new month?  Time is flying past already this year!  April!  Wow!  And with that comes a new sketch challenge from The Scrapbook Store.  Here is this month's sketch...

And to mix things up a little, instead of creating a layout based on the sketch, I made a sweet little card from the Bo Bunny "Family Is" collection.

products used: cs - Kaisercraft; pp - Bo Bunny; other - ink, foam squares.
Since the card is small and compact, I've kept the detail on it to a minimum.  Besides, the patterned paper print is too cute to overwhelm with other product!! I've also created my own Polaroid frame with white card stock to mimic the miniature Polaroid sentiment.
Don't forget to enter into the challenge.  We would love to see your entries - layouts or cards!!  Thanks so much for visiting..x

Bella BLVD | Fire Cracker...

Hello Friends!  I am back to share a little more of the All American collection from Bella BLVD.

"Fire Cracker"
products used: cs - Kaisercraft; pp - Bella BLVD (All American); alpha - Bella BLVD; other - Bella BLVD: chipboard, crochet hearts, stickers, flags; paint, brads; tools - typewriter.

With this layout I wanted to showcase how to use these patterned papers especially if you don't have any 4th of July/Americana photos to scrap.  Living in Australia, I struggled to come up with an idea at first.  Then I saw all the cute little fire crackers in the collection.  Instead of creating a layout with fireworks in the "traditional" sense.. I thought I'd use them in a "metaphorical" way.  Yes.  My middle son has a temper.  *grin*

Journaling: always quick to heat up, followed usually with a huge explosion!

Granted.. His temper tantrums usually come after his big brother has been antagonising him or I have repeatedly asked him to clean his room.. And it is not always a pretty sight.  But I wanted to document this aspect of his character.  Hmmm.  I am hoping that he will eventually outgrow this need to vent his frustrations in this particular way.  And so I scrap it.  The good, the bad and the ugly! *grin*
Thanks for visiting..x
